Job summary

The University of Oklahoma's Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is seeking student assistants to support the Manager of Retail and Rentals in the Cup of Jones gift and coffee shop.

You will greet customers, help with purchases, run a cashless POS, and assist with event setup and breakdown during campus activities, with a flexible schedule and weekend/night availability.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in Fall 2026 term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
• Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
• Experience in retail, food service, or customer service preferred.
• Able to quickly learn and apply technology including POS/Inventory systems and Audio Visual equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization on store floor and stockroom; assist with inventory tracking.

Position Introduction

The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is looking for outgoing students to assist the Manager of Retail and Rentals. The selected candidates will be key players in the daily operations of the museum's gift and coffee shop, Cup of Jones. They will also be integral in the preparation and running of special events that are hosted at the museum. This is an excellent opportunity to grow professional skills in a museum atmosphere!

Required Education And Experience

• Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
• Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Retail Duties

• Greet customers and foster a welcoming environment
• Assist customers with purchases and answer any questions
• Operate a cashless point-of-sale system
• Maintain cleanliness and organization on the store floor and in the stockroom
• Assist with inventory tracking and stocking
• Perform quality control checks on merchandise

Rental Duties

• Assist with the organization and set‑up of special events (includes arranging tables, chairs, and equipment)
• Work during events as needed
• Assist with breakdown of events
• Help maintain organization and cleanliness in rental spaces (catering kitchen and supply storage)
