Job Family Group: Retail Banking Sales & Service

Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identifies customer needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Works collaboratively within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives.

U.S. Only: This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. This requires Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. A criminal background review and credit history evaluation will be conducted, along with restrictions on performing as a real estate agent.

  1. Engages with existing customers and prospects through needs-based assessments to grow loyalty and identify opportunities.
  2. Recommends tailored financial solutions based on customer needs, including banking, investments, lending, and small business solutions.
  3. Advises clients on digital and self-serve banking options to enhance convenience.
  4. Supports customer transactions based on branch traffic.
  5. Builds new relationships by community outreach and appointment generation.
  6. Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during credit audits and quality checks.
  7. Applies risk management principles to maintain portfolio quality and protect assets.
  8. Provides credit recommendations for personal and home financing loans, adhering to sound credit principles.
  9. Collaborates effectively within the branch and market team.
  10. Assesses customer needs for banking and credit cards, integrating marketing strategies into discussions.
  11. Maintains accurate and complete work records.
  12. Innovates to personalize customer experiences and improve branch service quality.
  13. Contributes to achieving business results and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  14. May work across multiple branches, with variable schedules.
  15. Follows risk and compliance policies to safeguard customer assets and privacy.
  16. Stays informed about market trends, legal and regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  17. Identifies suspicious activity related to money laundering and reports appropriately.
  18. Ensures all activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  19. Handles complex tasks and escalations as needed, analyzing issues to determine next steps.
  20. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree or equivalent.
  • For Canada: Completion of registration to sell investment products, as appropriate.
  • Relevant lending qualifications and designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business banking needs and solutions.
  • Experience with retail investments and lending products is an asset.
  • Comfort with social media, digital tools, and applications.
  • Experience in customer service or sales with a focus on personalized service.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication, organization, teamwork, and analytical skills.
Compensation:

Salary range: $41,715.00 - $67,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried, with potential for commissions and bonuses, dependent on role specifics.
