Join to apply for the Retail Relationship Banker role at BMO U.S.

Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identifies customer needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Works collaboratively within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives.

U.S. Only: This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. It requires Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, with instructions provided by the Bank. A criminal background review and credit history evaluation are also required, along with restrictions on performing as a real estate agent.

  1. Takes a proactive role in engaging with existing customers and prospects by providing needs-based assessments to foster loyalty and identify opportunities.
  2. Engages customers to assess their financial needs, recommend tailored solutions, and promote the use of digital and self-serve banking options.
  3. Supports customer transactions and works to grow BMO’s business through outreach, appointments, and community relationships.
  4. Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policies during credit and lending processes.
  5. Applies risk management principles to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  6. Makes credit recommendations in line with sound principles and bank policies.
  7. Collaborates effectively within the branch and market team.
  8. Personalizes customer interactions by understanding their banking and credit needs and incorporating marketing strategies.
  9. Maintains accurate and complete work documentation.
  10. Continuously seeks ways to improve the customer experience and contribute to branch success.
  11. Adheres to risk, compliance, and ethical standards, maintaining current knowledge of market and product trends.
  12. Identifies suspicious activity related to money laundering and reports accordingly.
  13. Completes complex tasks within established rules and handles escalations as needed.
  14. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience; post-secondary degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Registration to sell investment products (Canada-specific).
  • Lending qualifications and relevant designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business banking needs, retail investments, and lending products.
  • Experience in financial services and consultative customer service.
  • Proficiency with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Resourceful, results-oriented, and team-oriented.
Salary:

$41,715.00 - $67,000.00

Pay Type:

Salaried, with potential bonuses and benefits. Compensation varies based on factors like location, skills, and experience.
