Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque, part of MercyOne Health System, is hiring a Retail Pharmacy Tech Trainee. Per Diem (PRN) schedule supports patient care across hospital services and community clinics.

Candidates assist with math calculations, customer service, and operate pharmacy information systems while meeting the Iowa Board of Pharmacy trainee requirements and pursuing national certification within 1 year. Qualifications

• Must be 17 years of age or older and eligible to sit for the national technician exam within 1 year of hire.
• Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a trainee prior to start of employment.
• Pass the test for and maintain national technician certification within 1 year; if not, termination.

As a Retail Pharmacy Tech Trainee At MercyOne, You

• Be competent and accurate with performing math calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, divisions, percentages, fractions and the metric system.
• Demonstrate the ability to exercise professional judgment in dealing with pharmacy’s customers.
• Be competent and thorough in performing job functions to all age groups.
• Display satisfactory customer relation skills consistent with Mercy’s mission, values and expectations.
• Display behavior consistent with Pharmacy Citizenship Standards.
• Effectively utilize verbal and written communication skills.
• Organize, prioritize, and function in an environment with multiple stress factors.
• Be competent with all hospital and pharmacy information system programs that pharmacy utilizes.

General Requirements

• Must be 17 years of age or older and eligible to sit for the national technician certification exam within 1 year of hire
• Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a trainee prior to start of employment
• Pass the test for and maintain national technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of employment. If unable to pass the test within 1 year of employment, the employee will need to be terminated from the pharmacy technician trainee position.
