Description

Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in areas such as inventory management, medication preparation, distribution, compounding, processing medications and supplies, handling specialty medications, and recording medication histories. Assists with medication processing functions including answering phones, taking refill orders, entering orders into the system, preparing medications for pharmacist check, and disbursing/shipping/delivering medications. Responsibilities also include stocking supplies, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, and possibly assisting in bulk compounding and IV preparation. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize medication errors, exercises sound judgment, anticipates potential issues, and applies policies and procedures to resolve or escalate challenges.

Preferred: 2+ years relevant experience.

Minimum Requirements
  • No criminal history related to drug handling
  • Strong mathematical calculation skills
  • Knowledge and skills as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas; ability to work under moderate supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Intermediate typing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Indiana Pharmacy Technician License or intern/extern license if enrolled in an accredited pharmacy college
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy
