Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio is seeking a part-time Retail Pharmacy Technician to cover weekends and vacations, under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

You will assist with retrieval, preparation, delivery, insurance processing, prior authorizations, and entering data into the electronic health record.

Qualifications include a High School diploma, CPT certification with NHA or PTCB and Ohio registration, plus six months of retail or ambulatory pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in retrieval, processing, preparation, and distribution of medications.
• Deliver patient-specific medications accurately and on time.
• Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds patient medications.
• Maintain inventory and drug stock; assist with prior authorizations.
• Enter information into the electronic health record or prescription processing system; process insurance claims.

Employment Type: Part time | Shift: Description: Casual position to cover weekends and vacation

Position Purpose: Retail Pharmacy Technician, within the scope of the Ohio Administrative Code, will provide timely, accurate, cost effective, and patient-centric pharmaceutical care under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

What You Will Do

Will assist Pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation, and distribution of medications for patient administration which includes:

• Accurate preparation of patient medications
• Accurate and timely delivery of patient specific medications
• Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds patient medications
• Maintain inventory, medication replenishments, and drug stock
• Assist the Pharmacist with medication or patient care related issues
• Assist the Pharmacist with prior authorizations for medications
• Documents the distribution of medication for proper use and reimbursement in accordance with department policy.
• Enter information into and retrieving information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system.
• Insurance claims processing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Licensure / Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)
• Experience: Six months of experience in a retail pharmacy or a hospital-based ambulatory pharmacy 18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code 4729.42 Maintains registration throughout the course of employment
