Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Westerville, OH is seeking a Casual Part-time Retail Pharmacy Technician to cover weekends and vacations. This role works under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist within the Ohio Administrative Code.

You will assist pharmacists with medication retrieval, preparation, and distribution, ensure accuracy, and support enrollment for Meds2Beds. Daily responsibilities include inventory maintenance and insurance claims processing.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Licensure/Certification: CPT, or PTCB, and registration with State Board (required).
• Experience: Six months in retail or hospital-based ambulatory pharmacy.
• Age: 18+ with no felony convictions per Ohio law.
• Maintains registration throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in retrieving, processing, preparing, and distributing medications for patient administration.
• Ensure accurate preparation and timely delivery of patient medications.
• Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds medications.
• Maintain inventory and stock levels; assist with replenishments.
• Enter and retrieve information from the electronic health record or prescription system.
• Process insurance claims related to medications.
• Assist with prior authorizations and resolve medication-related issues.

Position Purpose:

Retail Pharmacy Technician, within the scope of the Ohio Administrative Code, will provide timely, accurate, cost effective, and patient-centric pharmaceutical care under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

What You Will Do:

• Will assist Pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation, and distribution of medications for patient administration which includes:
• Accurate preparation of patient medications
• Accurate and timely delivery of patient specific medications
• Assist with enrollment and processing of Meds2Beds patient medications
• Maintain inventory, medication replenishments, and drug stock
• Assist the Pharmacist with medication or patient care related issues
• Assist the Pharmacist with prior authorizations for medications
• Documents the distribution of medication for proper use and reimbursement in accordance with department policy.
• Enter information into and retrieving information from an electronic health record or prescription processing computer system.
• Insurance claims processing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Licensure / Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)
• Experience: Six months of experience in a retail pharmacy or a hospital-based ambulatory pharmacy
• 18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code 4729.42
• Maintains registration throughout the course of employment
