Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Phoenix, Arizona, to prepare, compound, and dispense medications under a licensed pharmacist's supervision. You will support pharmacy operations, ensure safe, accurate therapy, and contribute to timely medication delivery in a fast-paced, patient‑centered team.

The role follows a varied 10‑hour shift schedule (10:00 AM–8:00 PM) with two weekends off per month; weekend differential and night differential apply where applicable.

This position follows a varied schedule consisting of 10-hour shifts, typically from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with two weekends off each month. Scheduling may vary based on department and operational needs.

Hire On Incentive up to $2,500 available. Recruiter to provide these details during the interview process. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.

Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. POSITION SUMMARY

This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions.
2. Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.
3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area.
4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.
5. Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
• Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
• Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required.
• Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate or bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred.
• Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred.
• Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred.
• Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
