MercyOne Medical Group in Dubuque, IA is hiring a Retail Pharmacy Tech Trainee for a part-time, day-shift schedule. You will work under a pharmacist to support pharmaceutical care for patients from newborns to geriatrics.

The role involves accurate math, good communication, and the ability to organize tasks in a busy hospital setting. On-the-job training is provided; a national technician certification must be pursued within one year of hire, with Iowa Board of Pharmacy prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 years of age or older and eligible to sit for the national technician certification exam within 1 year of hire.
• Typing, clerical and science background are desirable.
• Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy prior to start of employment.
• Pass the test for and maintain national technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of employment. If unable to pass the test within 1 year of employment, the employee will need to be terminated from the pharmacy technician trainee position.

• Under the supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients ranging in age from newborns to geriatrics.
• Tasks require a moderate amount of independent judgement, an advanced level of technical knowledge, and a high degree of accuracy
