Job description

What is a Retail Parts Pro?

A professional-level sales position supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts. Responsibilities include advanced part identification, troubleshooting, project assistance for DIY customers, sourcing parts from various channels, and maintaining store inventory and processes. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and calls
  2. Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
  3. Manage DIY services such as battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
  4. Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance
  5. Key holder duties including task assignment, safety, and opening/closing
Secondary Responsibilities
  1. Assist in inventory processes: truck put-away, cycle counts, back stock, etc.
  2. Ensure store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot
  3. Provide DIY services including battery and wiper installations, testing, etc.
Success Factors
  • Friendly communication
  • Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge
  • Operating POS and parts lookup systems
  • Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
  • ASE P2 certification or equivalent
  • Solution-oriented, project management, and product recommendation skills
  • Advanced parts sourcing and lookup abilities
  • Strong DIY selling skills
Essential Job Skills
  • Knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics (engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust, etc.)
  • Effective communication in English; Spanish a plus
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, parts catalogs, and instructions
  • Complete Parts Knowledge Assessment successfully
  • Basic math skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability in customer transactions.

Education & Certifications

Must have a valid driver’s license. ASE certification preferred but not required.
