Job Description

What is a Retail Parts Pro?

Professional level sales position capable of supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, advanced automotive system knowledge, and part knowledge. It involves advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The ability to source from various channels including special orders, FDO, second sources, etc., is essential. In-depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes is required. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and calls.
  • Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
  • Manage DIY services such as battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance.
  • Perform key holder responsibilities including task assignment, safety, and opening/closing duties.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist in store inventory processes like truck put away, cycle counts, and back stock.
  • Ensure store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, and parking lot.
  • Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
Success Factors
  • Friendly communication skills.
  • Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment.
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge.
  • Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
  • Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
  • ASE P2 certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to recommend solutions, projects, and products effectively.
  • Advanced parts lookup and sourcing skills.
  • Strong DIY selling skills.
Essential Job Skills
  • Knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic skills.
  • Effective communication in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, parts catalogs, and procedures.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Successful completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
  • Basic math skills for measurement and calculations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability.

Education and Certifications

Must have a valid driver’s license. ASE certification is preferred but not required.
