What is a Retail Parts Pro?

The Retail Parts Pro is a professional-level sales position supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts. Responsibilities include advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The role involves sourcing parts from various channels such as special orders, FDO, and secondary sources. It also requires in-depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone inquiries.
  2. Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
  3. Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installations, etc.
  4. Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance.
  5. Perform key holder responsibilities such as task assignment, safety, and opening/closing duties.
Secondary Responsibilities
  1. Assist with store inventory processes including truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, back stock, etc.
  2. Ensure store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot maintenance.
  3. Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs.
Success Factors

  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment.
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge.
  • Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
  • Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
  • ASE P2 certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to recommend solutions, projects, and products effectively.
  • Advanced parts lookup and sourcing skills.
  • Strong DIY sales skills.
Essential Job Skills
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics.
  • Effective communication in English; Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, parts catalogs, and instructions.
  • Completing the Parts Knowledge Assessment successfully.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience with proven sales ability and customer transaction fulfillment.

Education & Certifications

Must have a valid driver's license. ASE certification is preferred but not required.
