What is a Retail Parts Pro?

The Retail Parts Pro is a professional sales position supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts. Responsibilities include advanced identification, troubleshooting, project assistance for DIY customers, sourcing parts from various channels, and maintaining store inventory. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
  2. Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
  3. Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
  4. Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance
  5. Perform key holder duties such as task assignment, safety, and opening/closing procedures
Secondary Responsibilities
  1. Assist with store inventory processes like truck put away, cycle counts, and back stock
  2. Ensure store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, and parking lot
  3. Provide DIY services as needed
Success Factors
  • Friendly communication skills
  • Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge
  • Operating POS and parts lookup systems
  • Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
  • ASE P2 certification or equivalent
  • Solution-oriented approach with strong product and project recommendation skills
  • Advanced parts lookup and sourcing skills
  • Strong selling skills for DIY
Essential Job Skills
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics
  • Effective communication in English (Spanish a plus)
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and parts catalogs
  • Completion of Parts Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic math skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends
Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience with proven sales ability and customer transaction fulfillment.

Education and Certifications

Must have a valid driver’s license. ASE certification is preferred but not required.
