Job summary

Step Up's VISTA project, part of AmeriCorps & Senior Corps, is seeking volunteers for community capacity building, fundraising infrastructure, and outreach to expand services for low-income girls and young women. This year-long assignment offers hands-on experience in partnerships and program development.

You will develop a retail partner prospecting approach, create materials for recurring giving, and help position Step Up in new markets while ensuring access to mentorship and career readiness

Qualifications

• Strong communications and writing/editing skills.
• Experience in fundraising or grant writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams.
• Interest in youth education and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Retail Partner Prospecting: Develop a retail partner prospecting methodology and build an initial pipeline of consumer brands with strong community engagement programs, mission alignment, and potential for recurring customer-facing giving campaigns.
• Partnership Qualification Criteria: Develop a clear, documented framework for distinguishing retail partners suited to recurring giving from one-time activations.
• Recurring Giving Case for Support: Develop a mission-forward narrative for integrating Step Up into a retailer’s year-round customer giving strategy.
• Retail Giving Partnership Materials: Create partner-facing resources that outline recurring giving models and make it easy for retailers to move from one-time activations to ongoing partnership.
