The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to lead the front-end operations of a high-profile, service-driven, world-class facility, where retail, membership, and customer experience intersect. The Retail Operations Manager will oversee everything from merchandise strategy and inventory control, to team leadership and day-to-day customer interactions and experience. This role calls for someone who’s equal parts strategic and hands-on, understands retail, is able to drive efficiency and revenue, elevate team performance, and deliver an outstanding customer experience to every guest and member. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that you stay knowledgeable and current on industry merchandise, current trends, price ranges, and future developments of the company and the industry as a whole
- Attend trade shows as required, actively seeking to maintain and build upon your professional knowledge base, and proactively seek professional development opportunities
- Maintain a neat, clean and organized facility
- Oversee all elements of the front desk and retail operations, including merchandise, and manage the Range Safety personnel
- Maintain oversight and understanding of all aspects of company finances as assigned
- Prepare reports and schedules as assigned
- Learn and master the company’s POS system
- Manage all inventory, adhering to inventory control guidelines, and conducting inspections aligning with company policy in order to balance cash flow and maintain proper inventory
- Be familiar with retail procedures for sales, returns and layaways
- Recommend and execute on the removal or inclusion of items included in the company’s retail inventory based on sales trends and data analysis
- Proactively maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times for customers and employees
- Build rapport with customers, constantly striving to provide an excellent customer experience
- Keyholder responsibilities, opening and closing company facilities
- Manage and delegate all associated administrative tasks and front desk duties
- Development and implementation of processes and procedures as needed or directed
- Change management pertaining to company processes and procedures, and ensuring employees are effectively trained to carry out newly established processes, and that customers are aware of any business decisions that may impact their patronage
- Manage membership sales and promotions accurately
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, creating a positive and friendly atmosphere for customers
- Work with other managers and the owner to create/enhance business product lines, and services that will push the company forward and increase foot traffic in the store/range.
- Understand and adhere to all EPA and OSHA standards, and all other regulatory compliance standards as they relate to the facility and the business overall
- Plan, develop, and institute professional development and training for employees
- Hire, develop, oversee and discipline assigned employees.
- Take ownership of facility operations and cleanliness, reporting maintenance issues in a timely and clear manner, and coordinating repairs with maintenance staff, addressing any issues as soon as possible
- Create, implement, and execute on emergency response procedures when needed
- Maintain open communication with leadership and the owner, taking the initiative to innovate, make recommendations, and communicate concerns or suggestions in a solutions-focused manner, to help drive positive change within the organization.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of retail experience, ideally in a management capacity
- Demonstrated customer service skills and experience
- Showcase strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills needed to effectively communicate and coordinate with leadership, support staff, members, and patrons
- Self-starter, with the ability to work diligently and effectively without constant supervision and within management guidelines.
- Excellent inventory control skills: arms, ammunition, accessories, etc.
- Sound problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing as needed to meet strict deadlines
- Must be highly adaptable, with the ability to drive and accept change.
- Working knowledge of the firearms industry as a whole, firearms retail establishments, and the market we operate in
- Basic understanding of financial control and budgeting responsibilities
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products
- Must be comfortable working in an environment around firearms and loud noises
- A previous work history and references that reinforce the following attributes: integrity, honesty and dependability
