General Summary:
The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the retail branches to deliver a positive member experience and ensure that assigned branches adhere to internal policies, procedures, and compliance standards. This role ensures consistent operational standards, supports branch teams, and plays a critical role in driving performance and member satisfaction across all retail locations.
Key Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversees all day-to-day operations of the retail branches. Monitors daily workflow and staffing requirements and coordinates staff schedules with assigned managers. Holds branch team accountable for adhering to all internal branch operations policies and procedures through consistent training and coaching.
- Leads initiatives related to operational change management and process improvements.
- Develops and implements operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Coordinates and manages operational audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Maintains strong knowledge of all credit union products and services. Recruits, interviews, and recommends qualified personnel. Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by recognizing top performers and communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards and demonstrating the Credit Union’s core values.
- Partners with the Branch Managers to control branch security. Accountable for cash and negotiable items of assigned branches.
- Manages the vendor relationships for ATMs and Cash Management/Delivery Services.
- Maintains a high level of communication by spending at least 80% of time in the branches.
- Serves as an escalation point for complex member service issues and operational concerns.
- Coordinates and delivers necessary product, system, and operations training as necessary.
- Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures and banking/credit union regulations. Keeps abreast of industry developments including but not limited to changes in regulations and technology.
- Manage vendor relationships for retail services and supplies, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards to work effectively with members, co-workers, management, and vendors. Demonstrates the Credit Union’s core values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, and Responsibility.
- Manages projects and assignments directed by the VP, Retail Banking.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in retail banking or in a credit union, specifically in operations management.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Exceptional time-management skills.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state banking laws, regulations, and compliance as well as extensive knowledge of banking and lending products and services.
- Outstanding problem solving and communication skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Must be available to occasionally work evenings and on weekends, as well as alarm calls and ATM service. Ability to travel up to 80% (New Haven & Fairfield County)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel. Familiarity with banking and lending software.
