Job summary

Summary

Retail Operations Manager (ROM) responsible for leading and developing an assigned Retail Selling and Merchandising organization. Oversee a specific segment of clients and/or retailers within an assigned geography, representing the Company and designated Clients & Customers through management of retail store coverage and set/project coverage, executing objectives set forth by Clients, Retailers, Business Development Managers, and related retail leadership.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high‑performing teams and ensure client KPI execution by addressing retail issues on an ongoing basis.
• Oversee effective retail routing and approve routing decisions for the assigned region.
• Develop people through training, performance reviews, in‑store assessments, individual associate development plans, and succession planning documentation.
• Source and identify external talent and integrate new associates into the organization.
• Manage, assist, or develop expense and revenue/operating‑income budgets based on trade channel and client responsibilities.
• Grow base business and add new business.
• Travel up to 80% of the time; driving is essential.
• Lead communication and change management across internal and external stakeholders to meet client and company KPIs.
• Maintain knowledge of company systems and interpret retail reporting data to provide actionable insights.
• Promote and enforce the company’s strategic direction, national policies, and programs.
• Serve as strategic retail contact for clients, business managers, and other stakeholders within assigned regions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business Management preferred.
• 5+ years of retail experience with associate management.
• 1‑3 years of managing Retail Merchandisers, P & L, budgeting and forecasting, and managing client expectations.
• Customer and client management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to direct, lead, coach, and develop people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and prioritization skills.
• Experience with performance management tools.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision.

Travel & Physical Requirements

Must be able to spend more than 66% of the workday engaging in physical activity, lift or push up to 50 pounds, stand on feet for long periods, and travel and drive up to 80% of the time.

Environmental & Safety Requirements

Work may be performed in office, field, retail store, or warehouse environments. Must follow safety practices when handling products or cooking; may work in cold conditions such as refrigerated and freezer sections.
