Job summary

Rhode Island School of Design is seeking a Retail Lead to oversee daily operations across RISD's independent retail stores. You will ensure shift readiness, product presentation, and high-quality customer service while coordinating with leadership for smooth operations.

The ideal candidate has at least three years in retail with leadership experience, strong product knowledge, and proficiency with POS/inventory systems. Evening and weekend shifts may be required; RISD PCI training is expected.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
Three years retail experience with at least one year in a leadership role; art-supplies experience preferred.
Strong retail service background including product knowledge and presentation.
Reading and writing in English; multilingual preferred.
Experience with POS and inventory management systems.
Driver's license preferred; PCI compliance class required by RISD.

Responsibilities

Be an active member of the store shift team, handling cashiering, stocking, cleaning and shift problem-solving.
Execute opening/closing procedures and document shift-related information.
Conduct pre-shift meetings and delegate tasks in absence of Assistant Manager.
Ensure POS readiness, proper labeling, and accurate end-of-shift reports.
Support eCommerce inquiries, order fulfillment and vendor replenishments.
Monitor inventory, supplies, and storage areas; keep merchandising and pricing consistent.
Provide exceptional customer service, resolve issues promptly, and maintain a welcoming environment.
Assist in training new staff on POS and shop procedures.
Maintain PCI compliance and safe work practices.
