Job summary

Staples is seeking Merchandising & Inventory Supervisors to drive store success on the Sales Floor. You will oversee inventory controls, merchandising execution, and customer service while coaching team members to achieve results.

In this role, you will unload and stock merchandise, implement planograms, and support front-end operations. The position requires flexible scheduling and a collaborative, customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Ability to engage customers and identify their needs.
• Ability to multitask and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to lift/move items up to 100 pounds and climb ladders.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to handle conflicts professionally and with integrity.
• Preferred: previous key holder responsibilities in retail.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory controls including returns, reserve online pickup, and cross-channel returns.
• Unload, sort, stock, and maintain inventory levels on the sales floor.
• Execute weekly planograms and seasonal merchandising changes.
• Deliver excellent customer service and present solutions to customers.
• Maintain a clean, inviting store environment and engage customers effectively.
• Handle front-end duties such as cashiering and returns; support manager-on-duty shifts.
• Provide store leadership when scheduled as Manager on Duty.
• Be flexible to take on additional duties as assigned.

Play a central role in helping your store, your people and your customers win.

• Process accurate and efficient inventory controls: Zero Balance, Return to Vendor, Return to Warehouse, Cross Channel Returns, Reserve online pick up in store

• Execute all product activities including truck unloading, sorting, stocking, and maintaining stock levels

• Execute Weekly Planograms and seasonal promo merchandising changeover

• Deliver exceptional customer service

• Understand and utilize basic selling skills to properly engage and present solutions to our customers

• Provide an inviting environment for the customers by maintaining a neat and clean store

• Perform front end responsibilities such as cashier, returns, and online reservations

• Provide store leadership when scheduled as the "Manager on Duty"

• Be flexible to perform other duties as assigned

Essential skills and experience:

• Able to work a flexible schedule based on the store's needs

• Has a clear understanding of merchandising and retail operations

• Experience managing and coaching a team and/or supervising others

• Must be able to engage and speak to customers and understand their needs

• Ability to handle many priorities and to multitask effectively with limited or no supervision

• Ability to lift, push or pull materials in the 100-pound range, climb ladders, stand and walk continuously

• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment

• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner

• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information

• Preferred but not required: key holder experience within a retail environment
