Job summary

Little General Mt Nebo in Mount Nebo, WV seeks a Manager in Training to learn all facets of store management under seasoned managers. Candidates must be at least 21 to manage locations that sell alcohol, tobacco and lottery; some travel is required.

This hands-on program covers recruiting, training, scheduling, budgeting, customer service, inventory, and policy adherence while developing leadership and operational skills for future advancement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Learn to recruit, provide training for, and manage all employees.
• Represent Little General in a professional manner with all employees, customers, and vendors.
• Learn and understand Little General policies and procedures as defined in the Manager’s Manual.
• Learn to communicate, enforce and follow all handbook and company policies.
• Learn scheduling by budget in accordance with federal wage and hour regulations.
• Learn to provide employee coaching and document progressive discipline when required.
• Ensure that all store premises and equipment are clean, safe, secure, and properly maintained.
• Promote enrollment and regular participation in Loyalty Programs.
• Promote store participation in company sponsored Charity Events.
• Learn to inventory, promote, display, and price products and services to meet sales/profit goals.
• Learn to safeguard and manage store funds, merchandise, and gasoline inventory.
• Learn to work with Food Service Manager on building maintenance.
• Learn to reduce operating costs by managing controllable expenses.
• Learn to complete and transmit required reports/documents timely.
• Report any questions or problems to Retail Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned for learning.

Job DetailsJob Location: Little General Mt Nebo 8000 - Mount Nebo, WV 26679Position Overview: The Manager in Training role allows candidates who demonstrate potential to become a store manager the chance to work with seasoned managers to prepare for future advancement. The Manager in Training will learn all aspects of the Store Manager position. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age in order to manage locations that sale alcohol, tobacco and lottery. Working hours and store locations may vary during this position. Some travel is required.

Primary Responsibilities

1. 1. Learn to recruit, provide training for, and manage all employees.
2. 2. Represent Little General in a professional manner with all employees, customers, and vendors.

QualificationsMinimum Education:

High School diploma or GED preferred. Basic computer skills required. Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry boxes and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds;
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (90%), Sitting (10%);
• Ability to climb, balance, reach, grab, stoop, crawl, bend, and crouch for extended periods;
• Ability to use close, distant, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and visual focus;
• Ability to smell and identify odors;
• Ability to clearly hear and interpret voice commands and telephone communications.
