Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia seeks a capable leader to help run a Goodwill retail store in the absence of management. You will direct operations, assign tasks to associates, and drive financial and production goals to sustain store performance.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of leadership experience. The position may involve travel within the service area to support multiple locations and ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Accountable for all retail facility operations in the absence of other retail management team members.
• Open store and prepare facility for business day, pass out matrix, ensure production aligns with goals.
• Monitor sales floor to ensure an exceptional shopper experience.
• Close store, reconcile cash with daily sales reports and secure facility at night.
• Maintain visual presentation and sales floor upkeep at all times.
• Communicate with District Operations Manager on issues related to safety, security and personnel.
• Travel within home region as needed to support multiple locations.

Position Summary

Contribute to the mission of Goodwill by helping to lead a Goodwill retail store location in the absence of a member of management. Acts as the store manager/assistant or Lead when these key holders are out of the store for an extended period of time, directing operations, associate assignments, and driving financial and production goals.

Essential Duties

(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)

1. Accountable for all retail facility operations in the absence of other retail management team members.
2. Open store and prepare facility for business day, pass out Matrix, ensure that production is done in line with production goals.
3. Monitor sales floor to ensure an exceptional shopper experience, engage with associates and shoppers throughout the day.
4. Close store, reconcile cash with daily sales reports and secure facility for the night in the absence of other management team members.
5. Maintain visual presentation and sales floor maintenance at all times.
6. Communicate with District Operations Manager on any issues identified within the store including safety, security and personnel issues.
7. Act with the best interests of the organization in mind at all times, making decisions that are in line with Goodwill's guidelines.
8. Flexible in travelling to locations within home region.
9. Email checked 3 times daily for communications that may need to be made in the absence of the store management team.
10. Timely preparation of expense reports.
11. Adapt to the nuance of each building, its associates, enclaves and goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The associate in this position has supervisory responsibility for designated associates in their department.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance

• High School Diploma or GED preferred. Will consider a combination of education and work experience.
• 1 Year experience in a leadership role required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
• The associate in this position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Safety Statement

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions

• The associate is required to lift 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Walking or standing to a significant degree involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling.
• The associate works in a moderate work environment with occasional exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).
• The associate is required to travel throughout the Goodwill service area.
