Job summary

Handcart Garden Center in Dade City, Florida is seeking a friendly Retail Garden Center Associate to welcome customers, help with plant selections, and assist with sales.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, staying active, and learning about plants. Training is provided, and employees receive discounts on plants and garden products. Part-time or full-time opportunities are available, with weekend availability preferred.

Qualifications

• Friendly, positive attitude and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds (bags of soil, plants, etc.).
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Basic plant knowledge is a plus but not required (we are happy to train!).
• Retail or garden center experience is a bonus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide excellent customer service
• Assist customers with plant selections, gardening products, and supplies
• Operate the register and assist with retail sales transactions
• Water plants and help maintain the health and appearance of nursery inventory
• Stock shelves and organize merchandise displays
• Assist with unloading plant shipments and moving inventory
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment
• Help load plants, soil, and supplies into customer vehicles when needed
• Support seasonal displays and promotions
