Houston Food Bank is seeking a Retail Sourcing Specialist to grow the Retail Rescue and Red Barrel Programs. This role focuses on building relationships with retail store staff and partner pantries while traveling within the 18‑county service area to monitor activity and provide insights.

The position emphasizes educating staff on donation guidelines, conducting inspections, and collaborating with logistics to improve routing and driver performance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Retail Management, Hospitality, Supply Chain, or closely related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in sales, retail, and communication.
• ServSafe Manager Certification a plus.
• Bilingual English–Spanish strongly preferred.
• Must obtain ServSafe Manager certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Spends 60% of the workweek traveling within the service area building and maintaining relationships with retail donors and partner pantries.
• Builds champions out of retail store staff to support ongoing food sourcing efforts and Houston Food Bank mission.
• Analyzes data and trends to coordinate visits for maximum efficiency.
• Educates store personnel on donation guidelines.
• Monitors and ensures program guidelines are followed.
• Organizes and maintains monthly reports for donors and metric reporting.
