Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a dedicated cleaning technician to maintain clean, safe retail spaces and assist with daily facility needs in the Rockville area.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and reliable adherence to site cleaning standards and safety protocols. Training will cover cleaning methods, equipment use, and company safety policies.

Qualifications

• Two years of commercial cleaning experience is required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to decipher/detect signs indicating danger.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment such as scrubbers and extractors as site specs require.
• Proven track record of dependability.
• Excellent customer service skills with clients, coworkers, and supervisors; consistent professionalism.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by site.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of all assigned areas in the retail store, ensuring it is clean, hazard-free, and customer-ready before opening.
• Dusts lights, furniture, shelves; mops floors; vacuums; empties trash; cleans windows; uses high-speed buffer for hard floors.
• Cleans, maintains, and ensures basic security of assigned equipment.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment/facilities repairs or safety hazards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains cleanliness of all assigned areas in the retail store, ensuring store is clean, hazard free (within the custodian's span of control) and customer ready prior to opening.
• Performs cleaning duties such as dusting lights, furniture, shelves and other horizontal surfaces, dry and/or wet mopping hard floor surfaces, vacuuming carpets, emptying and cleaning trash containers and ashtrays, spot cleaning walls, carpets and windows, and using the high speed buffer to burnish hard floor surfaces.
• Cleans, maintains and ensures basic security of assigned equipment.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement or any other potential safety hazard.

*This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of up to 40 pounds. Prolonged walking and standing are required as well as frequent bending, reaching and stooping.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cleans and maintains assigned equipment.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement or any other potential safety hazard.
