Socket.dev is seeking a Retail Coordinator for our Colorado Springs thrift store. The role leads daily operations, ensures SOP compliance, and delivers exceptional customer service during assigned shifts.

You will work 24-28 hours per week as a part-time, non-exempt team member, serving as a key holder, supervising volunteers, and collaborating with the Retail Supervisor and Director of Retail Operations to support growth and community impact.

Job Title: Retail Coordinator

FLSA Status: Part Time, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: 24-28 hours per week (3 shifts)

Department: Thrift Store, Colorado Springs Location

Reports to: Retail Supervisor and Director of Retail Operations

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Retail Team Lead serves as a key holder and shift leader for the Silver Key Thrift Store. Responsible for smooth day-to-day operations, consistent execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), measurable donation processing productivity, and exceptional customer service during assigned shifts.

As there is not always a supervisor on-site daily, this position operates independently with accountability while maintaining consistent communication with the Retail Supervisor and Director of Retail Operations, who provide weekly oversight.

This role requires physical stamina, operational focus, trend awareness, and the ability to lead volunteers with both warmth and accountability in a fast-paced, community-centered retail environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creates an extraordinary customer service experience by providing a warm and welcoming store that is clean and organized


• Serves as key holder and assumes responsibility for store operations during assigned shifts.


• Executes and upholds all Standard Operating Procedures consistently.


• Trains, supports, directs, and works alongside volunteers to carry out the day-to-day operations and reinforce productivity standards.


• Maintains consistent donation processing and ensures daily production expectations are met.


• Maintains the proper processing, pricing, and stocking of DME donations.


• Provides specialized customer service to individuals in need of DME.


• Coordinates the proper processing, pricing and storage of Durable Medical Equipment.


• Ensures DME inventory is managed properly both on the sales floor and in storage.


• Balances customer service, volunteer coordination, and processing momentum.


• Responsible for daily cash handling, register reconciliation, and deposits as assigned.


• Works closely with Retail Supervisor and the Director of Operations to carry out changes that support the growth of the store and volunteers.


• Contributes to a work atmosphere that is safe, productive, efficient and fun


• Other duties as assigned

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Two or more years of retail and cash handling experience


• Two years of volunteer leadership experience


• Additional college coursework in business, retail management, or related field preferred - or equivalent professional experience demonstrating increased responsibility.

• A passion and knowledge of both classic and current fashion trends


• Ability to identify items of value and merchandise efficiently and creatively.


• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills


• Previous thrift store experience a plus

TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY

This position requires good proficiency in the use of a Point of Sale register. Microsoft word applications. This position will often require multi-tasking in the use of register, phone, and retail equipment while interacting with clients.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability and comprehension of basic math including percentages and fractions; capable of interpreting appropriate retail sales data from management.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must possess and maintain a Colorado Driver's License.

• Standing and Walking: Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift.

The acquisition of items from the thrift store by staff or volunteers with the intention of reselling them for personal gain or business purposes is considered a conflict of interest and is strictly prohibited. Any staff or volunteers who own, manage, or are affiliated with businesses involved in the trade or resale of secondhand goods should disclose these affiliations prior to the start of their employment or volunteer service. Failure to disclose such information may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
