Job summary

CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA) is seeking a Controller with retail industry experience to join our Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) practice in Des Moines IA or Cedar Rapids IA. The role focuses on overseeing client accounting, delivering advisory services, and mentoring staff within a collaborative, flexible, hybrid environment.

You will prepare financial statements, advise on best practices, and develop management reports for boards, while staying current with accounting standards

Qualifications

• 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Retail industry experience highly preferred.
• Aptitude for quickly learning and using accounting software and systems; QuickBooks experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and similar office software.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for designated clients and lead financial engagements.
• Provide accounting and financial advisory services to clients and act as trusted consultant.
• Mentor staff and seniors, designing back-office solutions for clients.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and provide recommendations.
• Develop management reporting packages for boards and leadership teams.
• Attend industry events and trainings to stay current in the field.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and accounting standards.
