Job summary

Jacksons Food Stores is seeking a part-time Retail Cashier Floater to cover multiple Oregon stores in Tigard, Portland, Lake Oswego and Tualatin. You will greet customers, ring up sales, provide product information, promote discounts, and keep the store clean and organized.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and thank them for their business.
• Provide fast, friendly service and accurate product information.
• Ring up sales, apply discounts, and follow tobacco/alcohol policies.
• Prepare cashier checkout reports per policy.
• Maintain cleanliness inside and outside the store.
• Label, rotate and stock shelves, coolers and displays.
• Follow safety guidelines and report incidents promptly.
• Know and follow company policies and procedures.
• Where applicable, fuel customers’ cars and perform related tasks.
• Ensure proper sanitation and food handling practices.
• Reconcile daily paperwork when covering shifts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

A Retail Cashier Floater is a versatile role designed for individuals who provide coverage across multiple store locations within a specific region. Your work location may vary daily as you fill in for staff on leave, vacation, or open positions. As a Floater, you'll have the chance to meet new people, learn new techniques, and gain valuable experience while building your reputation. You may also be selected for additional leadership opportunities.

Pay: $20.50 an hour.

Shift: part-time.

Must be 21 or older for this location.

What will I do as a Retail Cashier/Customer Service Floater?

• Greet every customer with a smile, thanking them for their business, and inviting them back.
• Provide fast and friendly service and accurate product information; helping to build awareness of our products and services.
• Ring up sales and merchandise, offering our customers applicable discounts/promotions while following all laws and policies regarding restricted sales of tobacco and alcohol.
• Prepare cashier checkout report accurately and according to policy.
• Maintain cleanliness, inside and outside the store.
• Properly label, rotate and stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
• Be safety/security conscious while adhering to the guidelines in the Safety Manual. Report any accidents or incidents to the Store Manager immediately.
• Be knowledgeable of and follow company policy and procedures.
• Where applicable fuel customers’ cars, check engine fluids, and wash customer windows as needed. (Required in Oregon and as needed in other areas for handicapped customers).
• Ensure proper sanitation and food handling/prep/storage/disposal procedures are followed.
• Book Floaters Only - Reconcile daily paperwork when covering shifts and completing daily deposits.
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Are of legal age to sell restricted products including alcohol and tobacco. NV Only – must be of legal age to work in an establishment with slot machines.

• Bring previous retail or cashier experience.
• Possess experience of leading by example and doing the right thing, always.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, you are frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and listen.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
• Work safely in work conditions that include heat, cold, allergen, noise, and fume/chemical/odor from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
