Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center operates a retail cafeteria at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, ME. We are seeking a Food Service Associate to provide staff and guests with quick, friendly service and to maintain showroom-ready cafeteria spaces.

The role includes food prep, cashiering, stock management, and daily operations support in a late morning to early evening shift with weekend coverage. 32 hours weekly; $16.50–$28.88 hourly with a competitive benefits package.

• Previous food service, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute food and beverages for patients, residents, guests, retail customers, dining areas, and catering events.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by creating positive interactions with customers, patients, visitors, and team members.
• Serve requested food items in retail and dining areas while maintaining quality, accuracy, and presentation standards.
• Assist with customer-facing responsibilities, including cashiering, to ensure table service, food delivery, and catering support.
• Stock and replenish food, beverages, supplies, and condiments in designated areas according to established procedures.
• Store food, beverages, and supplies safely and appropriately in compliance with food safety and organizational standards.
• Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties, ensuring food service equipment, workstations, dining areas, and kitchen spaces remain clean, safe, and organized.
• Maintain retail and cafeteria areas in a clean, welcoming, and "showroom-ready" condition at all times.
• Support daily food service operations by assisting with preparation, distribution, inventory stocking, and general departmental needs.
