Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an energetic store associate to act as the primary point of contact for customers, stock shelves, and operate the cash register. You will help set up displays, restock merchandise, and assist customers with locating items in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires strong communication, basic math, safety awareness, and the ability to follow plan‑of‑gram guidance while maintaining clean and organized store areas.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise in the stock room or on the sales floor.
• Build and rotate merchandise displays; face shelves.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise and answering questions.
• Operate cash register and bag items, collect payment and give change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
• Keep store clean, including front end, restrooms, and stockroom.
