General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate performs a range of functions across all store areas as needed, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Prioritize safety by practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintain a safe shopping environment, keep aisles clear, and report unsafe conditions.
• Treat customers and colleagues with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates.
• Assist customers with merchandise, operate registers, and respond to inquiries politely and knowledgeably.
• Respond promptly to customer service needs and escalate issues when necessary.
• Support the Ross brand and uphold company standards.
• Perform cleaning duties to maintain store cleanliness and hygiene.
• Adhere to dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
• Ensure merchandise is organized, replenished, and presented according to guidelines.
• Expedite merchandise receipts to sales floor, ensure proper merchandising, and maintain department knowledge.
• Follow loss prevention policies and safeguard store assets.
• Handle transactions accurately and efficiently, following all policies.
• Work with a sense of urgency, maximize productivity, and follow store best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Use of store equipment, including registers and PCs.
• Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
• Bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and carry loads as needed.
• Push, pull, and lift over 25 pounds occasionally.
• Use janitorial and store equipment as required.
• Stockroom roles may require lifting over 20 pounds regularly.
