Job Description

SSA Group at the Field Museum in Chicago is looking for talented Retail Associates to join our team!

Retail Associate

Position Title: Retail Associate

Reports to: Retail Supervisor(s), Assistant Retail Operations Manager, and Retail Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

  1. Fulfill guests’ needs quickly and efficiently.
  2. Inform retail leadership when item quantities are low or upon special requests. Work with warehouse team to pull & fill items as necessary.
  3. Relay relevant comments received from customers directly to supervisor.
  4. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  5. Uphold company policies and procedures.
  6. Perform SSA EXTRA Guest Service steps to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client.
  7. Check and stock supplies in the counter area, floor display, stands, and cabinets neatly, accurately, and promptly.
  8. Clean tables, chairs, and equipment as needed.
  9. Keep the work or service area clean and free of debris.
  10. Maintain a balanced cash drawer as assigned.
  11. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  12. Merchandise products to maximize sales.
  13. Increase sales through promotional items or suggestive selling.
  14. Support the unit in being an example for company & client guidelines regarding sustainability and conservation efforts, and educate staff as necessary.
  15. Support SSA / Unit in community efforts, including hiring, engagement activities, and giving back opportunities.
  16. Perform other necessary tasks.

Job Requirements:

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  2. Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
  4. Basic computer skills, including POS systems and Excel.
  5. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle boxes (10-35 lbs).
  6. Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Previous Experience:

None required. All educational backgrounds are eligible.
