Job summary

Family Dollar in Lancaster, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will support opening/closing, merchandise handling, payroll records, and compliance while fostering a positive, safe, and engaging environment for customers and associates. This full-time role offers growth opportunities and leadership responsibilities in a busy retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent movements.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping.
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise and train Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
