Job summary

Family Dollar in Macon, GA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will assist with merchandising, staff supervision, opening/closing procedures, and compliance with company policies while maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues. This role is part-time and requires strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties (standing, walking, bending, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow policies and procedures.
• Assist the Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and colleagues.
• Keep store clean, restocked, and presentable (bathrooms, floors, restrooms, trash).
