JOB SUMMARY

The Sunnyside* Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of all day‑to‑day operations of the dispensary in accordance with state law and Company standards. This position will provide support and oversight of all dispensary staff, including talent selection, training, coaching, development, and enforcing adherence to standard operating procedures. The Assistant Store Manager should champion a strong culture that aligns with the company’s core values and mission to normalize, professionalize, and revolutionize cannabis. The Assistant Manager is responsible for inventory management, building customer loyalty, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Assist in the management of all day‑to‑day operations of the dispensary, ensuring compliance with state law and Company standards.
  • Support and oversee dispensary staff, including talent selection, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance development.
  • Build a strong retail culture aligned with the company’s core values and mission.
  • Manage inventory, schedule, and customer service to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Respond to escalations, resolve cash/POS discrepancies, and maintain accurate records of daily activities.
  • Communicate regulatory updates and training to staff and assist with state inspections or audits.
  • Participate in community outreach and partnerships to build brand awareness and positive community presence.

CORE JOB DUTIES

People Management:

  • Develop, coach, and inspire employees to achieve individual and team goals through regular feedback and career development planning.
  • Assist HR and leadership in managing employee relations issues.
  • Participate in staffing and recruiting efforts.
  • Create and communicate an effective weekly labor schedule that complies with Sunnyside guidelines and applicable labor laws.
  • Address employee questions, concerns, or suggestions and facilitate resolution.
  • Communicate regulatory changes and their implications to staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Facilitate training and onboarding, including coaching on selling and cross‑selling techniques.

Sales & Operational Excellence:

  • Perform store opening and closing procedures, including register preparation, inventory reconciliation, and delivery operations.
  • Manage daily operations while navigating challenges and escalations.
  • Create and deliver accurate recaps and reports to management.
  • Resolve escalated cash, POS, or product discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all dispensary activities, including cash reconciliations, customer records, sales, deliveries, and returns.
  • Support outreach efforts and community partnerships to build a positive image and increase brand awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and state and local laws.
  • Assist management and Compliance teams in state inspections or audits.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of retail management experience or comparable experience with teams of 5+ employees; cannabis experience preferred.
  • Excellent training experience and ability to teach technical, product‑related information consultatively.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict‑management skills.
  • Strong business acumen, including communication, interpersonal, and persuasive skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel with experience in data entry and data management.
  • High level of integrity, personal motivation, and a sense of urgency.
  • After‑hours work required. This is a non‑exempt role and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship.

PAY RANGE

$22.84 – $27.64 USD per hour
