General Job Summary
Assists the store manager in operating a profitable, clean, well-merchandised convenience store. The primary purpose is to manage store operations and staff in the absence of the manager. Trains and supervises employees to provide high-quality customer service. Supports the manager and staff to reach the store's goals. Represents Western Refining professionally in dealings with employees, vendors, and customers.
Major Job Tasks
- Manages alternating shifts with the Store Manager, ensuring high levels of customer service and professionalism.
- Assists in training Sales Associates and evaluating employee performance. Ensures shifts are fully staffed, filling in when necessary.
- Prepares Daily Sales Reports, processes invoices, and manages payroll using PDI system. Tracks sales and monitors markdowns.
- Increases sales through suggestive selling and merchandise displays.
- Follows cash handling procedures, accurately accounts for transactions, and operates cash register and gas console.
- Assists in ordering, pricing, and receiving merchandise, maintaining accurate inventory documentation.
- Keeps the store clean, stocked, and in excellent condition, including safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensures compliance with policies and regulations, including alcohol and tobacco sales.
- Practices safety procedures, responds to emergencies, and reports accidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Thorough knowledge of retail operations and practices.
- Mathematical and computer skills relevant to retail.
- Ability to operate retail machines like cash registers and gas pumps.
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and customer interaction.
- Ability to read and understand manuals, reports, and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions, policies, and procedures, including during emergencies.

Supervisory Responsibility
Leads and monitors the work of others within the store, providing training and guidance.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Visual, auditory, and manual dexterity to perform store duties.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform cleaning duties as needed.
Work Environment
- Primarily in-store or outside on store grounds.
- Exposure to fumes, chemicals, weather conditions, and mechanical parts.
