Overview

The Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot, Inc. plays a pivotal role in driving total sales and service growth within our stores. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help us create a vibrant sales culture, enhance store visual and merchandising standards, freight, logistics activities, and prioritize customer satisfaction. You will help lead a customer-centric environment, engage with the local community, and foster a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity. The Retail Assistant Store Manager is considered a “Key Carrier” and a leader on duty. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required, along with performing External Key Carrier responsibilities such as opening and closing the store.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Sales and Service Excellence
    • Partner with management to deliver memorable customer experiences.
    • Implement Office Depot sales techniques and training.
    • Foster a sales-focused environment through training and development.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and product expertise.
  2. Operational Efficiency
    • Process merchandise accurately, adhere to procedures and visual standards.
    • Identify and implement process improvements.
    • Assist in coaching associates for performance improvement.
    • Contribute to sales and profitability initiatives.
  3. Leadership and Team Development
    • Guide and train store associates, including Print Services.
    • Conduct training on the business model and service offerings.
    • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to build trust and loyalty.
    • Assess store associates' performance and competencies.
  4. External Key Carrier Responsibilities
    • Ensure safety and security during manager absence.
    • Perform opening/closing duties, including alarm and cash handling.
    • Maintain loss prevention compliance.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Background in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related fields.
  • 1-3 years of related experience; retail, sales, supervisory preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of logistics and freight.
  • Strong selling, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Pay, Benefits & Schedule
