Overview

The Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot, Inc. plays a pivotal role in driving total sales and service growth within our stores. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help us create and nurture a vibrant sales culture, enhance our store's visual and merchandising standards, manage freight and logistics activities, and prioritize customer satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will lead a customer-centric environment, engage with the local community, and foster a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity. The Retail Assistant Store Manager will be a “Key Carrier” and considered a leader on duty. All Retail Assistant Store Managers must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Full-Time Assistant Managers are also responsible for External Key Carrier duties such as opening and closing the store.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Sales and Service Excellence:
    • Partner with management to deliver memorable customer experiences.
    • Implement Office Depot selling techniques and sales training.
    • Assist in training and developing associates to foster a sales-focused environment.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and product expertise.
  2. Operational Efficiency:
    • Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, maintaining visual standards.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste.
    • Support the General Manager with coaching and performance management.
    • Contribute to sales and profitability goals through various initiatives.
  3. Leadership and Team Development:
    • Train and guide store associates, including Print Services staff.
    • Conduct training on the business model and service offerings.
    • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance performance.
    • Assess store associates’ performance and competencies, providing input to the General Manager.
  4. External Key Carrier Responsibilities:
    • Ensure safety and security during manager absences.
    • Perform opening and closing duties, including alarm activation/deactivation and cash handling.
    • Maintain compliance with loss prevention policies.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Relevant fields: Business, Marketing, Retail.
  • 1-3 years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with logistics and freight.
  • Strong selling, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work independently or with a team.

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

Hourly pay ranges from $15.19 to $25.88, depending on location and experience. Benefits include 401(k) and growth opportunities. Eligible for incentive programs.
