Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, merchandise movement, and opening/closing tasks to keep the store running smoothly.

The role emphasizes strong communication, leadership, and problem solving in a fast-paced retail environment. You will help train associates and ensure a safe, welcoming store for customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical store duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise between delivery, stockroom, and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional displays and store assets.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain clean, stocked, and organized store areas; ensure safety and policy adherence.
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates.
• Foster a safe, positive, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness including bathrooms and floors; keep areas neat and presentable.
• Other duties as assigned.
