Job summary

Hibbett is seeking an Assistant Manager for our Chesapeake, VA location. This role reports to the Store Manager and supports all store operations, customer service excellence, merchandising, and staff guidance.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in retail customer service, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to lead in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, in-store position with responsibilities during peak periods and in the absence of the Store Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
• Is a self-starter, has initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
• Is a team-player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
• Consult with Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assumes responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Produce and give extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual and policies.
• Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
• Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring internal controls and reporting potential fraud risk.
