Job description

Come join the growing field of cannabis! We are searching for a full time Retail Assistant Manager at our High Plainz Strains of Garden City location.

General Info:

This is a full-time position, with a typical schedule of 35+ hours per week across five shifts. Overtime may be available as needed. Open availability is essential, as the store operates daily from 8 AM to 10PM, including holidays and weekends. The only day the store is closed is Christmas Day.

The ideal candidate will bring diverse experience in customer service, shift management, and cash handling. Previous retail management experience is highly desirable, and familiarity with the cannabis industry is a significant advantage. We seek someone with a positive attitude who enjoys interacting with both customers and team members. Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic environment are essential. Given the highly regulated nature of our industry, adherence to rules, regulations, and established SOPs is crucial. High ethical standards are mandatory, as you will be responsible for handling both product and cash daily.


Pay - this position starts at $19/hour plus tips.

The retail leadership team is a group of committed professionals who collaborate effectively to ensure each store runs smoothly.

Basic Functions of the Job:

  • Oversees daily activity while on shift - including making sure everyone gets their breaks and lunches.
  • Handles discounts and other pricing issues within the Point of Sale (POS) system in the store.
  • Ensures the store is clean, organized and ready for customers when on an opening or closing shift, as well as making sure it stays tidy during the shift.
  • Opens the store, including making sure drawers are ready and counted in for the day.
  • Closes the store, including balancing the cash in the drawer, safe, and ATM.
  • Handles escalated customer service issues if they arise.
  • Ensures all rules from the Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) are followed at all times.
  • Keeps track of cash moved between the drawers and safe during the day, including cash pays for supplies, etc.
  • Counts and records all tips at the end of each shift, ensuring the Front Desk Receptionist receives their portion.


Ideal Skills and Experience:

  • Previous retail management experience a huge plus!
  • Previous cannabis industry experience a huge plus!
  • Ability to accurately count both paper money and coins.
  • OUTSTANDING customer service skills are required.
  • Communication skills with customers and employees are required.
  • Ability to motivate staff with regards to staying on task, providing great customer service, and selling our cool products!
  • Willingness and ability to delegate tasks to the staff throughout the shift to make sure the store stays clean, organized, and stocked.
