Job summary

H&S Energy Group is seeking an Assistant Manager to support Store Manager in daily operations and leadership of retail staff in California. You will cover store duties in the manager's absence, handle paperwork, orders, price changes, and customer concerns.

The role requires strong communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and adherence to labor laws. Practical experience with POS and back-office systems is essential, with safety and teamwork emphasized throughout.

Qualifications

• Retail or management experience preferred
• Ability to reconcile shift reports and understand their purpose
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet demands, with excellent follow through
• Ability to identify issues and make the necessary corrections effectively
• Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Perform select duties and responsibilities of the Store Manager in their absence, e.g., submitting daily paperwork, submitting approved orders, creating maintenance tickets, addressing scheduling issues, processing approved price changes, handling customer concerns or complaints
• Demonstrate competent knowledge of Point of Sale and back office systems
• Resolve customer issues in a friendly and professional manner
• Assign and inspect shift duties and responsibilities
• Understand and apply federal, state, and local labor laws as they apply to retail operations
• Assist with promoting a strong safety culture by helping to ensure safety rules and regulations are being followed
• Demonstrate strong ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
• Interact professionally with all team members
• Not authorized to hire, fire, or promote employees but may be asked to make recommendations regarding employee performance and/or disciplinary issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to perform numerous physical activities that require considerable use of your hands, arms and legs and moving your whole body, including prolonged or repeated standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of materials.
