Job summary

Story Cannabis is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead a high-performing team in our Maryland dispensary. You will drive top-line sales growth while overseeing customer service, training, product knowledge, and compliance.

You will coach staff, manage inventory, and partner with marketing and operations to optimize store performance. This role emphasizes leadership, analytics, and hands-on management to achieve KPIs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
• 2+ years of management in high-volume retail; cannabis experience preferred.
• Experience with POS systems and backend tools such as Dutchie and Metrc.
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
• Able to analyze data and track KPIs.
• Open availability with no scheduling conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Work with the General Manager to plan and implement sales strategies to drive positive sales growth within the dispensary.
• Maintain strong inventory controls and ensure store compliance standards.

• Assist with hiring, training and onboarding new staff in the dispensary.

Overview:

The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for developing a high-performing team that consistently delivers top-line sales growth. This person will lead and support the staff with customer service, sales training, product knowledge, leadership development, inventory controls, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Working with the General Manager to plan and implement sales strategies to drive positive sales growth within the dispensary.
• Maintaining strong inventory controls and making sure that the store is upholding compliance standards.
• Coaching, training, and developing staff, making sure they are aligned with the company's goals and vision.
• Partnering with the General Manager to help create, monitor, and track the store's KPIs, and leveraging data to help drive decisions around labor costs, sales strategies, and training opportunities.
• Helping to hire, train and onboard new staff within the dispensary.
• Assisting with the store's day-to-day operations and partnering with other internal teams, such as marketing, retail operations, and supply chain.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required, Associate Degree preferred.
• 2+ years of management experience in a high-volume retail environment with previous cannabis experience preferred.
• Experience with point of sales systems and backend compliance tools, such as Dutchie and Metrc.
• Strong leadership qualities and the ability to recruit and train staff.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Analytical with the ability to set and track store KPIs.
• Open availability with no scheduling conflicts.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to occasionally lift 50+ pounds.
• Must be able to either sit or stand for long periods of time.
