Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an asset protection-oriented team member to deter theft and ensure safety at entry points and throughout the store. You will engage with customers, validate receipts, and act quickly to recover unpaid merchandise.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of customer service or asset protection experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to learn new technology solutions while documenting incidents and maintaining product knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience or asset protection experience.
• Clear and professional written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to actively move throughout work area for long periods.
• Ability to respond to alerts quickly and urgently.
• Ability to learn and interact with new and existing technology solutions.
• Ability to use technology to document and communicate incidents.
• Ability to learn and apply negotiation and de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of product locations to direct customers.
• Ability to work successfully with conflict.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional presence at entryways to deter theft by engaging with customers at entry and exit points.
• Prevent theft through constant awareness, engage with customers to validate receipts and recover unpaid merchandise.
• Keep team members and customers safe by identifying and resolving safety concerns.
• Identify unsafe conditions and respond quickly to resolve them.
• Respond to alerts to check receipts, recover unpaid merchandise, and resolve alarms.
• De-escalate situations and reduce store disruption using company techniques.
• Document and communicate theft, safety, and alarm incidents.
