Farmhouse Pottery is seeking a qualified leader to oversee retail operations across its flagship and second Woodstock location. The role involves strategy and daily management, with regular travel between sites to ensure a cohesive brand and customer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of retail sales leadership experience, preferably across multiple locations.
• Proficient in Shopify and NetSuite inventory management.
• Strong Excel and Google Suite skills.

Responsibilities

• Train retail associates at both locations on daily operations and brand expectations.
• Analyze sales data and marketing plans to determine stock levels and submit transfer requests.
• Schedule visual merchandising changes based on the merchandising calendar.
• Create product training resources for current and future staff.
• Maintain and update the store handbook and policies across locations.
• Communicate with both teams to ensure consistency in customer experience.
• Develop systems for customer management and follow-up across locations.
• Set priorities and delegate tasks to keyholders or sales leads.
• Plan and execute retail events across both locations, including the flagship tent sale.
• Manage returns, in-store shipping, and inter-location transfers to keep operations efficient.
• Aim to meet retail sales goals within budget and manage supplies.

Job description

Farmhouse Pottery is seeking a qualified, energetic candidate to oversee retail operations across two Woodstock, VT locations: our flagship store and our second location in downtown Woodstock. We are a nationally recognized boutique lifestyle brand looking for someone to strategize and lead retail for both stores as one cohesive operation. This position would also have the opportunity to open and oversee additional future retail locations. This role requires a self-starter with the initiative to grow sales and help evolve our brand across multiple storefronts. This is a full-time position directly overseeing store operations at both Woodstock locations, with regular travel between the two. Weekends and some holiday and evening hours are required.

Responsibilities

• Train retail associates at both locations on daily retail operations, cleaning schedule, and Farmhouse Pottery brand expectations
• Read sales data along with the marketing plan to determine appropriate stock levels at each location and properly submit inventory transfer requests for each location from the warehouse
• Schedule changes in visual merchandising for new product and seasonal floor changes at both locations, based on the merchandising calendar, ensuring a consistent look and feel across stores
• Share product knowledge and create a product training resource for current and future associates at both locations
• Utilize and evolve the retail store handbook, our training guide for policies, processes, and procedures across all store locations
• Communicate frequently with both teams to ensure floor changes, products, signage, and customer experience are consistent store to store
• Create systems for better customer management and follow-up across both locations
• Set clear priorities and delegate effectively to keyholders or Retail Sales Leads at each store to maintain coverage when not on-site
• Organize retail event planning, staffing, and execution across both locations, namely our annual tent sale hosted at our flagship in Woodstock
• Understand our inventory management system and how to properly process returns, in-store shipping, and inventory transfers between locations to maintain efficient operations across channels, departments, and stores
• Responsible for meeting retail sales goals at both locations while staying within budget
• Maintain budget parameters for supplies and proppage needs across both stores
• Design and implement retail sales strategies for growth at each location
• Grow and maintain relationships with local partners in the Woodstock area

Requirements

• 5+ years retail sales experience and leadership required, ideally with experience managing multiple locations or teams
• Shopify experience preferred
• Inventory management experience in NetSuite or similar ERP system a plus
• Proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, etc. required
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities across two locations
• Superb verbal and written communication skills and the ability to lead teams at more than one site
• Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive attitude
• Comfortable moving between two nearby store locations regularly; reliable transportation required
• Physical requirements : standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
