Job summary

Racine Art Museum Association, Inc. invites a part-time Retail and Guest Service Associate to join RAMA's Retail and Guest Services team across RAM Downtown and Wustum locations.

You will greet visitors, process admissions and memberships, answer questions, and maintain a welcoming store environment. Responsibilities include operating the POS, managing cash, updating Shopify inventory, handling online orders, and supporting store opening/closing procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist museum guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Process admissions, memberships, and other guest transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and direct visitors as needed.
• Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks.
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of reception area and museum store.
• Monitor the entrance and throughout the museum via security cameras.
• Work with staff to ensure proper training and knowledge of current exhibitions.
• Operate the point-of-sale system to process cash and credit card transactions.
• Maintain and balance cash drawers according to procedures.
• Assist with receiving incoming inventory and maintaining Shopify listings.
• Monitor stock levels in Shopify and report to Retail and Guest Services Manager.
• Assist with annual inventory and secure storage of inventory items.
• Process and fulfill online orders and ensure timely shipment.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures for store and reception.

About Racine Art Museum

The Racine Art Museum Association’s (RAMA’s) two-campus organization consists of the Racine Art Museum (RAM) and the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts (Wustum). Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, RAM opened in May 2003 and is an outgrowth of the 85-year-old Wustum. It has become a popular destination for the 11 million residents of the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor and visitors from across the US and beyond. RAMA operates both locations, using Wustum as its visual education center and the downtown campus, RAM, as home to its internationally recognized exhibitions of contemporary crafts. RAM holds the largest collection of contemporary craft art (ceramics, wood, glass, fiber, metal, and art jewelry) in the United States. RAMA’s programs enhance rather than duplicate those offered by larger museums to the north and south. Today, Wustum houses one of the largest studio arts education programs of any museum in Wisconsin. RAMA is seeking a candidate that is enthusiastic, team oriented, and proactive with the ability to work creatively and independently to join our small, dedicated, collaborative team.

Position Summary

The Retail and Guest Service Associate will ensure the smooth, efficient, and customer‑orientated operation of the reception area and the retail store locations at both RAM Downtown and RAM Wustum, to ensure a high level of visitor and customer care. This position will also serve as the important first impression of the museum, greeting guests, and answering questions about the museum’s exhibitions and programs.

Guest Services

• Welcome and assist museum guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Process admissions, memberships, and other guest transactions accurately and efficiently
• Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and direct visitors as needed
• Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks
• Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of reception area and museum store with light housekeeping such as vacuuming, dusting shelves, and straightening merchandise
• Monitor the entrance and throughout the museum via security cameras
• Work with proper staff to ensure proper training and knowledge of current exhibitions

Retail Operations

• Operate the point‑of‑sale system to process cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently
• Maintain and balance cash drawers according to established procedures
• Assist with receiving incoming inventory
• Maintain accurate product listings in Shopify to reflect current inventory
• Monitor stock levels in Shopify and report to Retail and Guest Services Manager
• Assist with the successful completion of the store’s annual inventory
• Provide and maintain proper, secure storage of inventory items
• Process and fulfill online orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely shipment and delivery
• Assist with opening and closing procedures for the store and reception as well as the opening and closing of the entire museum as needed

Physical Requirements
