Job summary

District of Columbia International School (DCI) seeks a full-time Restorative Specialist to improve school climate through restorative justice practices and social-emotional learning. The role works with students to support growth, problem-solve concerns, and maintain a positive, safe environment while collaborating with families and staff across the campus.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, experience with at-risk youth and restorative practices,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of working effectively with at‑risk adolescents.
  • Experience working restoratively with students with emotional and behavioral struggles.
  • Two years experience working with DC youth.
  • Ability to use multiple technology platforms to guide instruction and communicate with students and families; proficiency with G‑Suite tools, including Gmail, is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Clear a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Improve school climate by implementing restorative justice practices and fostering social‑emotional learning.
  • Work closely with each student to support growth and development and collaboratively problem‑solve their issues and concerns using restorative methods.
  • De‑escalate students who are in crisis and maintain a positive school environment.
  • Collaborate with the Administrative team to ensure student accountability and conduct walkthroughs for high visibility across classrooms and public spaces.
  • Lead and participate in cultural activities to embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures; provide ongoing interventions and supports as needed.
