Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Support school site Restorative Room and community through trauma-informed restorative practices.
  • Identify students in need of support using data and monitor Tier 2/3 attendance plans.
  • Collaborate with site teams to implement behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Act as liaison between school, families, and community and conduct home visits when needed.
  • Participate in district/system-wide efforts to improve student engagement and outcomes.

Hours: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week

Clock Hours: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (30 minute unpaid lunch)

Salary: $26.02 to $31.65 per hour

At Prospect Community Day School, the Restorative Specialist will support behavior, attendance, and family engagement in an integrated way, aligned to whole child, restorative practices, and our Community Schools approach. This role goes beyond responding to student behavior and supports proactive systems by facilitating restorative practices, supporting behavior interventions, and supporting staff and behavior aides in de-escalation and relationship-centered strategies. The Restorative Specialist will use data to identify students in need of support, develop and monitor Tier 2 and Tier 3 attendance plans, and support behavior interventions in collaboration with site teams, while actively participating in COST and site-based systems to improve student engagement and outcomes. This position helps support schoolwide systems and coordination of supports while also serving as a key liaison between school, home, and community. This includes building strong relationships with families, conducting and supporting home visits, and connecting students and families to resources. Grounded in restorative practices, behavior support, and family connection, this role functions as a bridge across systems to ensure students are supported, engaged, and successful.

Job Announcement Restorative Specialist Job Description

Under direction of site Principal or designee, provide comprehensive and culturally competent restorative practices support, designed to ensure the academic success of students, reduce punitive discipline that has a disproportionate impact on student groups, and promote positive climate and culture. The Restorative Specialist (RS) will oversee school site Restorative Room and support the entire community through consistent application of trauma-informed restorative practices, behavioral interventions, and individualized behavioral supports. This position provides research, professional development, and support to administrators, teachers, and support staff. The RS performs a full range of duties and responsibilities by supporting schools as they work to uphold the tenets of Restorative Practices.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Relevant educational laws and school policy.

  • Analysis of situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Methods of investigation.
  • Record keeping.
  • Conflict and emergency management.
  • Solve practical problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training, experience and education that would likely demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:

Experience and Education

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade required. Supplemental course work in behavioral sciences or a related field is preferred.

Experience: At least two (2) years of experience working in a diverse school setting, with an understanding of the tenets of evidence-based Restorative practices.

  • TB Test within the last 60 days (Education Code 49406, Assembly Bill 1667)
  • Complete district Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment, etc.
