Job summary

Assabet Valley Collaborative (AVC) seeks a Restorative Justice Specialist for Orchard Street Academy in Metrowest/Central Massachusetts. The role leads school-wide restorative practices, coaching staff, students, and families to implement RJ and improve school culture.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years’ RJ experience in schools, strong facilitation and communication skills, and a commitment to equity and inclusion. Position is 185 days with a typical 8-hour day, plus leadership meetings.

Qualifications

• Theoretical and practical understanding of Restorative Justice processes within school systems.
• Knowledge, training, and practice of equity issues in current education reform.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and school transformation.
• Experience working with diverse and underrepresented youth and communities.
• Ability to facilitate difficult conversations with youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Models a relationship approach to interacting with students and staff.
• Builds relationships within the school community.
• Collaborates with and provides RJ coaching for staff, students, and families.
• Coordinates and facilitates ongoing circles and mediations.
• Collaborates with leadership to develop RJ program implementation.
• Creates metrics to measure RJ implementation and informs interventions and school culture.
• Tracks referrals to identify patterns and inform interventions.
• Embeds RJ into everyday schoolwide practices.
• Helps create strategic plan, learning outcomes, and assessment rooted in restorative justice.
• Identifies and manages student support plans with stakeholders.
• Serves as a liaison between parents, staff, and students to design support plans.
• Co-facilitates RJ Team Meetings and provides ongoing professional development for staff, students, families.
• Completes necessary documentation and adheres to policies.
