Job summary

Make the Road New York (MRNY) seeks a full-time Restorative Justice Coordinator for Bushwick Campus Community School. The role supports and implements restorative justice across four high schools, with a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.

The position, a bargaining unit role, emphasizes collaboration with youth, families, and MRNY staff to nurture a just school climate. Applicants should have experience in restorative practices, school settings, and a strong commitment

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the U.S.
• Experience using restorative justice practices such as restorative circles and conferences for community building and accountability.
• Experience working in school-based settings with youth development.
• Expertise in restorative practices and justice focusing on communities of color.
• Commitment to social and racial justice and knowledge of community organizations.
• Strong outreach, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills; able to work with a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with school administration, youth and MRNY staff to create a vision for restorative climate at Bushwick Campus.
• Coordinate campus-wide plan and school plans for sustaining restorative approaches.
• Facilitate ongoing restorative justice trainings for stakeholders.
• Conduct yearly climate needs assessments to inform vision.
• Develop RJ Youth Leaders and lead an implementation team.
• Coordinate community school activities and restorative justice workshops with students and parents.
• Act as point person for interventions and assist teachers with in-classroom practices.
• Track and report data on student interventions.
• Participate in monthly community school team meetings.
• Integrate restorative justice with a racial justice lens.
• Handle special projects and accommodate occasional evenings/weekends.
