Job summary

SERVPRO in Nesconset, NY is seeking a self-motivated handyman/restoration assistant to respond to emergencies and perform restoration tasks such as water extraction, drying, and site cleanup. You will load and organize vehicles, communicate safety needs, and work with clients to explain the restoration process.

Valid driver's license and willingness to work on-call are required; construction experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous restoration/construction experience preferred.
• IICRC certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergencies (water/fire damage).
• Perform restoration tasks including water extraction, drying, and demolition.
• Load and inventory vehicles with tools and supplies.
• Communicate safety hazards and job needs to supervisors.
• Explain restoration steps to clients and maintain site cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including water damage, fire damage.
• Evaluate and perform restoration activities including but not limited to, water extraction, fire damages, set-up of specialty equipment, and demolition.
• Load, inventory, and maintain work vehicles with tools, equipment, and all necessary supplies for each project.
• Effectively communicate safety hazards, job site findings, equipment, and tool requirements for the worksite with supervisors.
• Maintain open and clear communication with clients, addressing their concerns and explaining the restoration process.
• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks, including water extraction, drying and site clean-up

Position Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is preferred.
• IICRC certification is a plus.

Skills/Physical Demands/Competencies

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)
• Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects.
• Ability to work with/around cleaning agents.
